What are possible side effects of Levitra?

Most patients are unlikely to experience any side effects of Levitra, but they are still possible and you need to know about them. Both mild and more serious side effects are possible. It’s important to know the difference between them as this will help you decide whether you need to report a certain symptom or it can be ignored as soon as it disappears. Serious side effects are very rare and need to be reported to you doctor as soon as possible, as they can lead to more serious health problems. The following serious side effects have been reported by some people taking Levitra: seizure, vision changes, shortness of breath, chest pain, irregular heartbeat, sudden vision loss, ringing in your ears, priapism, swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet, and fainting. Chest pain is possible if you were told to abstain from having sex because there is too much strain put on your heart. If you experience dizziness, chest pain and other symptoms during sex, stop the activity and seek emergency medical help. Sudden vision loss is another serious side effect of Levitra that is rare but can nevertheless take place. Make sure you report the fact of sudden vision loss immediately to your doctor to make sure it can still be reversed. While it’s still not completely clear any vision loss occurs in some people, it may have to do with the fact of using Levitra. However, people that reported this symptom also had other risk factors – such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and high cholesterol. Priapism is possible if you have taken too much of Levitra or if you have history of this condition.

Priapism is characterized as a prolonged erection that gets more painful and lasts for longer than 4 hours. Priapism can lead to a permanent damage of the tissues of the penis and therefore needs to be treated as soon as possible. Less serious Levitra side effects may include: memory problems, upset stomach, headache, stuffy nose, warmth or redness, and back pain. There is no need to worry about any mild side effects mentioned as long as they do not change in intensity. You also need to know that mild side effects are likely to go away on their own after several hours and are not supposed to appear again. In most cases such side effects mean your body is adjusting to the treatment prescribed – and you are supposed to give it some time. However, if the mild side effects you originally developed change in intensity get bothersome or interfere with your everyday life, you need to call your doctor about them to see what needs to be done. Drinking alcohol may intensify some of your side effects, so it’s not a very good idea to drink alcohol while using Levitra. If you develop any side effects that are not listed above – it’s up to you to decide whether they are serious enough to be reported or are most likely to go away on their own without any need for you or your doctor to interfere.
